The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for 2024 recognizes outstanding athletes across various disciplines. The recipients include Shri Gukesh D for chess, Shri Harmanpreet Singh for hockey, Shri Praveen Kumar for para-athletics, and Ms. Manu Bhaker for shooting. ‘Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award’ is given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over the period of the previous four years. ‘Arjuna Award for outstanding performance in Sports and Games’ is given for good performance over a period of the previous four years and for showing qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and a sense of discipline. Arjuna Award (Lifetime) is given to honour and motivate those sportspersons who have contributed to sports by their performance and continue to contribute to promotion of sports even after their retirement from active sporting career. ‘Dronacharya Award for outstanding coaches in Sports and Games’ is given to coaches for doing outstanding and meritorious work on a consistent basis and for enabling sportspersons to excel in International events. The overall top performing university in Khelo India University Games is given the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy.

2024 चा मेजर ध्यानचंद खेलरत्न पुरस्कार विविध विषयांमधील उत्कृष्ट खेळाडूंना ओळखला जातो. प्राप्तकर्त्यांमध्ये बुद्धिबळासाठी श्री गुकेश डी, हॉकीसाठी श्री हरमनप्रीत सिंग, पॅरा-ॲथलेटिक्ससाठी श्री प्रवीण कुमार आणि नेमबाजीसाठी सुश्री मनू भाकर यांचा समावेश आहे. मागील चार वर्षांमध्ये क्रीडा क्षेत्रात सर्वोत्तम, नेत्रदीपक कामगिरी केलेल्या खेळाडूला ‘मेजर ध्यानचंद खेलरत्न पुरस्कार’ दिला जातो. ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ चार वर्ष सातत्याने खेळामध्ये प्रावीण्यासह नेतृत्वगुण, खिलाडूवृत्ती व शिस्तीचे प्रदर्शन करणाऱ्या खेळाडूला दिला जातो. आपल्या कारकिर्दीत क्रीडा क्षेत्रात सातत्याने उल्लेखनीय कामगिरी करणाऱ्या आणि आपल्या क्रीडा प्रकारातून निवृत्ती घेतल्यानंतरही खेळाला प्रोत्साहन देण्यासाठी काम करणाऱ्या खेळाडूंचा सन्मान करण्यासाठी त्यांना ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार (जीवनगौरव)’ प्रदान करण्यात येतो. क्रीडा प्रशिक्षकांना दिला जाणारा ‘द्रोणाचार्य पुरस्कार’ अशा प्रशिक्षकांना दिला जातो; जे आपल्या शिष्यांना सातत्याने सर्वोत्तम कामगिरी आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर सर्वोत्तम कामगिरीसाठी प्रोत्साहन देऊन त्यांच्याकडून सराव करुन घेतात. खेलो इंडिया विद्यापीठ स्तरीय क्रीडास्पर्धांमध्ये अग्रक्रमांकावर असलेल्या विद्यापीठाला मौलाना अबुल कलाम आझाद (MAKA) करंडक प्रदान करण्यात येईल.
