India is the 6th largest exporter of Textiles & Apparel in the world in 2023. The share of textile and apparel (T&A) including handicrafts in India’s total exports stands at a significant 8.21% in 2023-24. Our country has a share of 3.9% of the global trade in textiles and apparel. Major textile and apparel export destinations for India are USA and EU and with around 47% share in total textile and apparel exports. India is a major textile and apparel exporting country and enjoys trade surplus. Bulk of import takes place for re-export or for industry requirement of raw material.

2023 या वर्षात भारत हा जगात सहाव्या क्रमांकाचा कापड आणि पोशाख निर्यात करणारा देश ठरला आहे. 2023-24 मध्ये भारताच्या एकूण निर्यातीमध्ये हस्तकला आणि पोशाख (T&A) यांचासह हा वाटा 8.21% इतका लक्षणीय आहे. कापड आणि वस्त्र प्रावरणे यांच्या जागतिक व्यापारात आपल्या देशाचा वाटा 3.9% आहे.भारतातून कापड आणि पोशाख निर्यात होणारे प्रमुख देश अमेरिका (यूएसए) आणि युरोपियन महासंघ(ईयू) हे असून कापड आणि वस्त्र प्रावरणे निर्यातीत या देशांचा सुमारे 47% वाटा आहे.भारत हा एक प्रमुख कापड आणि पोशाख निर्यात करणारा देश असून तो व्यापार अधिशेषाचा लाभ घेतो. यासाठी मोठ्या प्रमाणावर होणारी आयात ही पुन्हा होणाऱ्या निर्यातीसाठी किंवा कच्च्या मालाच्या उद्योगासाठी आवश्यक अशीच आहे.
